George Washington Statue - New York State Capitol

This statue of George Washington is located in West Capitol Park on the grounds of the New York State Capitol in Albany. The building in the background of the statue is the Alfred E. Smith State Office Building. This monument was dedicated in 1932 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Washington's birth. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the New York Governor at the time. This statue is a copy of the original by Jean-Antoine Houdon at the Virginia State Capitol.
