Harry Truman First Job Statue - Independence, Missouri

This statue of Harry Truman depicts him in his first job, a 14 year old drugstore clerk, directly in front of the actual building where he worked on Independence Square in Independence, Missouri. During Truman's employment the building was Clinton's Drug Store and is now Clinton's Soda Fountain. The statue was sculpted by Byron Constance, unveiled in 2024 and permanently installed in 2025. Behind the statue, looking the opposite direction of the Clinton store is the former Jackson County Courthouse, now known as the Historic Truman Courtouse where Truman later served as Presiding Judge.
