Home State of Presidents

This table shows the home states of all presidents of the United States. The home state is the state from which the president was elected as shown on the official electoral college results from the National Archives which is often different than the state in which they were born or even elected to a previous office from. Dwight Eisenhower and Donald Trump appear on this list twice as they were elected from different states in their first and second terms. New York has been the home state of the most presidents with 9, followed by Ohio with 6, Virginia with 5 and Massachusetts with 4.
