George Washington Statue - University of Texas

This statue of George Washington is located on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin. The building directly behind the Washington statue is the University's Main Building and Tower. The monument was erected by the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution in 1955 and depicts Washington when he was made Commander in Chief of the Continental Army on July 3, 1775. It was sculpted by Pompeo Coppini and cast by Roman Bronze Works foundry.
