Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York, New York in the home of his parents. The original structure was demolished in 1916, but after Roosevelt's death it was reproduced and opened as a museum in 1923 by the Woman's Roosevelt Memorial Association. The replica birthplace home is now part of the Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site. It is free and open to the public to visit.
