This memorial honors the seven presidents who spent time in Long Branch, New Jersey and incorporates an existing statue of James Garfield who died in Long Branch in 1881. In addition to Garfield, these presidents are: Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, Chester A. Arthur, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, and Woodrow Wilson. The statue of Garfield, dedicated in 1918, was sculpted by J. Otto Schweizer and was cast by Bureau Bros foundry.
