- The stone monument shown above was originally located on the approximate location of the house in which James Polk was born, but was moved a short distance away to make room for the building shown below. The structure is a 1967 reconstruction of the type of house Polk may have been born in and was dedicated in 1968 by Lady Bird Johnson.
