James Buchanan Birthplace

Address: 2831 Stony Batter Road, Cove Gap, Pennsylvania

James Buchanan was born on April 23, 1791 in Cove Gap, Pennsylvania in the home of his parents on their property they called Stony Batter. The house was removed from the original site and is now located in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania (see link below). The original birthplace site is now part of Buchanan’s Birthplace State Park. It is open to the public to visit.
